As a Travel and Expense Accountant, you will support the travel and expense process and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and help problem solve. In this role, you’ll work directly with the Expense Manager to support moderately complex finance projects and programs that help the finance organization meet its goals and support our travel and expense reporting systems.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada.
What we're looking for:
- 2+ years of experience in a finance, finance operations role or related
- Some understanding of financial systems, accounting principles, and financial analysis
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at varying levels
- Great organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
What you can expect:
- Expense Administration
- Review and process expense reports for all employees ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Review new user setups and maintain/update user accounts, including assignment and review of virtual cards and spend programs
- Maintain the travel and expense mailboxes to ensure timely responses to internal and external employee inquiries
- Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs, FAQs, company policy, functional specific documentation and provide employee training as needed
- Work with the Travel and Expense Manager and vendors to resolve travel related issues as needed
- Accounting and Finance Support
- Maintain the monthly travel dashboard, ad-hoc management reporting on travel and expense, and provide cross functional reporting support
- Prepare expense account reconciliations, monthly accruals, prepayment tracking and ad hoc reporting as needed
- Assist the Expense Manager with moderately complex projects and programs (e.g assisting with system implementations) within the Finance department, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals
Canada-based roles only: The Annual base salary for this role is between $70,000 CAD and $94,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

While we are a remote-first company, occasional travel for in-person engagement will be a part of this role. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities, and may include, but is not limited to, annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events. These events will typically be held in varying locations across Canada and the US.
