Job Summary:

We’re looking for versatile Final Layout Artists who have an eye for detail and a blend of creative and technical skills. Final Layout Artists help finalize set dressing, camera work, and shot assembly, ensuring that all components are ready for the final stages of production and that shots align with the film’s cinematic style and storytelling needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Fine‑tune cinematic staging and camera positioning for assigned shots and sequences, as directed by the Final Layout Supervisor or Head of Cinematography, Layout
  • Work closely with Final Layout leadership to finalize camera setups—including framing, angles, movement, and focus—to enhance storytelling, performance, and visual impact
  • Refine and polish set dressing in shots, ensuring that all environment elements are visually cohesive and aligned with the Production Designer’s and Art Directors’ vision
  • Conform timing and casting of shots from previs/rough layout or editorial to match the latest edit, ensuring camera and asset usage align with the cut
  • Help maintain continuity and consistency of geography, scale, eye‑lines, and screen direction across shots and sequences
  • Set up and assemble final layout shots with all required assets and technical settings, ensuring scenes are cleanly structured and ready for Animation, CFX, FX, Lighting, and Compositing
  • Maintain and update shot breakdown information (e.g., asset usage, camera naming) and support QC of shots for downstream delivery
  • Work with layout tools and proprietary systems, and provide feedback on tools and workflows where appropriate
  • Collaborate with Animation, Environments, FX, CFX, Lighting, and Compositing teams to ensure final layout supports their needs and the wider production objectives
  • Communicate progress and potential challenges clearly to Supervisors and Production, and help troubleshoot creative and technical issues
  • Collaborate with grace, humility, inclusion, and open‑mindedness

What You’ll Need:

  • Previous experience as part of layout and/or previs teams on digital feature films, VFX projects, or high‑end series
  • Experience working within large digital feature film production pipelines
  • A reel or portfolio demonstrating strong camera work, shot composition, and layout/final layout skills
  • Working knowledge of previs/layout techniques, camera animation, and scene set‑up
  • Knowledge of cinematography and how to translate storyboards and animatics into 3D camera and shot design
  • Proficiency in 3D software used in digital film production, particularly Maya (experience with tools such as Nuke, Houdini, or Unreal is a plus)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and problem‑solve, and to meet deadlines while under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
