Engineering at Brex
The Engineering team includes Data, IT, Security, and Software, and is responsible for building innovative products and infrastructure for Brex and our customers. We believe that engineers should accelerate the business through technology, and collaborate across multiple teams to accomplish that. Teams are autonomous, filled with inclusive individuals, eager to learn, teach, constantly improve how things work. The software we build today is the foundation for dozens of Brex systems in the future, so engineers have a strong sense of ownership and accountability and take pride in their craft.
What you’ll do
The Users team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of our users. This includes onboarding through directory sync protocols, groups and teams management, and our audit service, which provides a record of everything that happens in a Brex account. You will manage a team of outstanding engineers building features and primitives to support the Brex user lifecycle. You’ll work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, product, and design to deliver highly impactful features.
Where you’ll work
This role will be based in our Vancouver office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team engineers to build user lifecycle features
- Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams to build and expand platform primitives such as users, groups, and auditing
- Develop processes and improvements for engineering on-call, resolving technical debt, and supporting last minute asks
- Grow and foster a positive engineering culture that empowers individuals to develop their skills and careers
- Be accountable for impact and communicating it outward and upward
- Own the broader direction and roadmap of the team, including prioritizing features for upcoming releases and influencing collaborators
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role strategically managing individual teams with cross functional leadership and talent development
- Experience managing on-call and prioritizing asks
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills by effectively managing multiple requests and workloads, utilizing time management techniques and task prioritization to meet deadlines
- Experience with driving platform development and adoption through pragmatic approaches, supporting product development
- Strong and effective communication ability to convey complex ideas in a simple manner, apply active listening when working with others, and drive teams to resolutions during discussions. Enthusiastic about being customer-facing.
- A proven track record of building cultures that encourage ambition and foster empathy. You will create and contribute to a healthy and collaborative culture that showcases Brex’s values.
- An innate desire to lead by example and fill gaps in the teams development and execution
Bonus points
- Knowledge of HRIS, SCIM, and other directory sync protocols
- Engineering experience with HR platforms such as Workday
- Previous work in user lifecycle, including onboard and offboarding
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $240,000 CAD - $300,000 CAD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
