Release Infra at Brex

The Engineering team includes Data, IT, Security, and Software, and is responsible for building innovative products and infrastructure for both internal and external users. We have multiple autonomous and collaborative teams who are eager to learn, teach, and constantly improve how things work. Together, we strive to build robust and scalable systems that enable Brex to grow rapidly and help our customers reach their full potential.

What you’ll do

As an Engineering Manager for Release Infrastructure at Brex, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports Brex's release, observability, and incident processes. You will work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure that Brex's releases are successful and that the infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure.

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our Vancouver office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year, for a minimum of one week at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining the release infrastructure
  • Support the growth and development of the ICs on the Release Infra team
  • Work with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure that Brex's releases are successful
  • Ensure that the release infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving the release process
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to identify and resolve issues
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Track and report on key metrics related to release engineering performance
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could impact the release process
  • Participate in the hiring process for the Release Infra team
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team
  • Contribute to the development of best practices for release engineering across the organization
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in release engineering

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineers
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with release infrastructure and/or configuration management tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Experience with release engineering and/or DevOps
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Passion for automation and efficiency
  • Experience with golang, python, kotlin, or elixir

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $240,000 CAD - $300,000 CAD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
