As a principal software engineer on the Apps, Analytics, and Visualization team, you will help build the infrastructure to power engaging, scalable, responsive web applications and APIs. You will help our customers to analyze, segment, and manage their portfolio by making it simple to interact with over a billion attributes detected using Arturo models applied to millions of images. You are an innovative thinker who is experienced in software engineering with a track record of delivering performant, maintainable code.

What you’ll do:

  • Be challenged with architecting and implementing datastores storing billions of records
  • Work with a passionate team to build highly responsive web applications that defy the standard Insurance and Insurtech experience
  • Follow software engineering best practices: CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, static code analysis, etc.
  • Bring new ideas that push the team and the company to new heights

 

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field plus
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Experience working with very large relational databases, i.e. PostgreSQL
  • Practical knowledge of AWS RDS and cloud datastores
  • Experience building systems using “NoSQL” datastores, i.e. Snowflake, HBase, Apache Spark, Parquet
  • Battle scars and lessons learned from deploying and maintaining high-performance architectures storing billions of records, scaling into petabytes of data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn

 

Nice-to-haves:

  • Geospatial experience using PostGIS
  • Go programming language
  • Familiarity deploying apps using Kubernetes and AWS

Compensation and Benefits:

Base pay range: $170-$200k/year, plus other possible discretionary bonus-based incentives and stock options. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, without limitation, location, experience and performance. In addition, Arturo provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health (medical, dental and vision) insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, flexible time off (FTO) and paid parental leave.
