Job Description

Power Up Your Career

Join AECOM’s Buildings + Places team and help deliver transformative projects across Western Canada. From site reviews to design support, you’ll gain hands‑on experience and grow alongside industry leaders. 

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct site reviews and inspections for building systems and BC Hydro‑type projects.

  • Assist with electrical design: diagrams, layouts, specs, and reports.

  • Perform calculations and analyses in compliance with codes and standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet scope, budget, and schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering + two (2) years of relevant experience with Power Systems focus from an accredited post‑secondary institution.

  • Knowledge of electrical design and commissioning, preferably including hydropower station electrical systems, substation design, and/or protection and control.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years related industry and engineering design experience in a multi‑disciplinary electrical, power, and/or instrumentation & control environment (hydro experience preferred).

  • Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred) as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or eligibility to quickly obtain EGBC registration.

  • Exposure to Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, and other recognized standards.

  • Experience producing tender documents: P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, load schedules, cable/tray calculations, instrumentation lists/spec sheets, and electrical studies.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP; MS Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent English communication.

  • Exposure to utility design practices (BC Hydro) is a strong asset.
