Early Careers: Technical Content DevOps Developer

Location: Burnaby, BC, Canada (in-office)
Experience: 0–2 years
Type: Full-time

Join Fortinet, a cybersecurity pioneer with more than two decades of excellence, as we continue to shape the future of cybersecurity and redefine the intersection of networking and security. Our mission is to safeguard people, devices, and data everywhere. We are looking for a recent graduate to join us as an Early Careers: Technical Content DevOps Developer and help build the AI-powered tools and pipelines behind our technical content.

You will join the Technical Content team, which creates documentation and training for Fortinet’s cybersecurity products. Our documentation is published to the Fortinet Document Library at docs.fortinet.com, and our training content is delivered through training.fortinet.com. Your job is to make that content faster to produce, easier to publish, and smarter to find, using automation, DevOps practices, and AI.

This is an entry-level role designed for new graduates. You will work on real production systems from your first months, with mentorship from senior DevOps developers and content leads.

What You Will Do

Working with guidance from senior team members, you will:

  • Build and maintain scripts, tools, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines that automate how documentation and training content is authored, built, and published, working toward single-touch publishing.

  • Develop AI agents, skills, and MCP servers that chain together research, writing, review, and publishing tasks for content developers.

  • Help build dashboards and analytics that track content metrics, such as page traffic and usage, for content teams and product managers.

  • Support the day-to-day operation of our internal AI tools and model servers, including routine maintenance, upgrades, backups, and deploying new models.

  • Add monitoring for AI token usage, GPU utilization, cost, and system performance.

  • Contribute to our knowledge framework by building workflows that ingest and curate content from internal and external sources for documentation, course blueprints, and lab scenarios.

  • Help automate lab environments used for courseware and content development.

  • Improve GitLab issue tracking and collaboration workflows across the team.

  • Troubleshoot issues in pipelines, tools, and infrastructure, and document what you fix.

  • Work with product managers, developers, QA, technical writers, and courseware developers to understand their challenges and turn them into tools that save time.

What We Are Looking For
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, MIS, or a related field, completed within the last two years or by your start date.

  • 0–2 years of experience. Co-op terms, internships, capstone projects, open-source contributions, and personal projects all count.

  • Working knowledge of Python or another scripting language, and the ability to automate tasks with it.

  • Familiarity with Git and source control workflows (branches, commits, merge requests).

  • Hands-on experience using LLMs or AI APIs in a project, such as building a chatbot, an agent, a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) app, or an automation that calls a model.

  • Comfort working on the Linux command line.

  • Clear written communication and an interest in how technical content is created and consumed.

  • Curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to learn new tools quickly.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with CI/CD (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) or containers (Docker).

  • Experience running open-weight models locally (for example, Ollama or vLLM), or working with vector databases.

  • Exposure to agent frameworks or the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

  • Coursework or projects using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or virtualization (KVM, VMware, OpenStack).

  • Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, Markdown, or static site generators.

  • Basic networking and security knowledge (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).

  • Fortinet certifications (for example, Fortinet Certified Fundamentals or Fortinet Certified Associate) or entry-level cloud certifications.

Please include a link to your GitHub, GitLab, or portfolio. Projects that show what you have built matter as much as your résumé.

What You Will Gain
  • Mentorship from experienced developers, content leads, and product managers.

  • Ownership of tools that are used every day by documentation and training teams worldwide.

  • Hands-on experience with applied AI, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure in a production environment.

  • Deep exposure to Fortinet’s cybersecurity products and access to Fortinet Training Institute courses and certifications.
