Job Summary
Our Roads + Highways Sector is seeking a licensed Drainage Engineer with drainage design experience to join our team in any of our southern CA offices located in San Diego, Irvine, Ontario, and Los Angeles, California office. Candidates based in San Diego, CA are preferred.
The Drainage Engineer will be responsible for but not be limited to, planning and design of drainage, stormwater management, and stormwater quality projects (including hydrologic and hydraulic studies and calculations), stormwater management permitting, and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with clients and interdisciplinary teams on diverse projects, such as master drainage studies, stormwater management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, final drainage analysis and design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics, and low impact development planning and design.
- Prepare hydrologic studies, drainage reports, drainage plans and specifications, stormwater technical reports, FEMA Letters of Map Revision, and other various large design documents.
- Perform preliminary field investigations and existing data research to be used in preparation of a working project basefile.
- Prepare planning studies and drainage design plans for a variety of projects such as: roadway, park, rail, bridge, and aviation.
- Calculate quantities and prepare engineering estimates.
- Assist in the pursuit of new projects through marketing and participation in the development of new scopes of work, schedules, and budgets.
- Mentor and train junior staff in technical skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- California Professional Engineer’s License is required (or must have a Professional Engineer’s License in another state and have the ability to obtain licensure in California within 1 year).
- 5+ years of drainage and stormwater study and design experience.
- Task Management experience desired.
- Familiarity with the following additional software is also desired: ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, HY-8, AES, WSPGW, EPA SWMM, and SDHM.

TYLin is committed to Pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $73,100 - 131,600 annually for this position and local market.
