Job Scope
The Director of Strategy and Portfolio Marketing at Acumed leads strategic and upstream marketing for product portfolios. Collaborating with Downstream Marketing Teams and stakeholders, this role drives product vision, portfolio strategy, lifecycle management, and new product initiatives. The Director manages financial forecasting, staffing, and budgeting while ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives. They will also hire, manage, and develop an effective upstream portfolio team.
This leadership position requires a thorough understanding of the market landscape to define Acumed’s strategic direction. Key responsibilities include driving the strategic planning process, designing portfolio strategies, ensuring alignment across functions, building business cases for new products, and managing product obsolescence to enhance operational efficiency and growth. The Director will lead both organic and inorganic projects, working closely with R&D and project management, while leveraging qualitative and quantitative analysis to optimize portfolio strategies.
This management role entails leading multiple teams, establishing strategic plans, and holding financial accountability for budgets.
Responsibilities
- Define performance metrics for timely product delivery
- Establish product vision, strategy, and roadmap, specifying market requirements
- Provide leadership and resources to team members for portfolio growth
- Engage with Key Opinion Leaders and build surgeon networks for VOC input
- Align Acumed’s strategic goals with market trends to meet customer needs
- Guide Portfolio Managers in developing strategic plans and identifying obsolescence opportunities
- Oversee global market analysis, advising on trends for new products
- Ensure team compliance with the AdvaMed Code of Conduct regarding HCP interactions
- Participate in industry events to foster customer relationships and identify opportunities
- Capture field feedback on products to inform portfolio needs
- Recruit, develop, and manage Portfolio Managers
Qualifications
- BA/BS in product management, marketing, or related field; MBA preferred
- 10+ years in product management/sales, with leadership experience
- 3-5 years in medical device sales/marketing, preferably orthopedics
- Experience in marketing strategy and portfolio management
- Proven record of leading successful projects and initiatives
- Experience managing cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Proficiency in market research and data analysis
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience with product lifecycle management
- Excellent coaching, communication, and persuasive skills
- Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking
- Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
- Strong executive presence and engagement skills
