About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Engineering Leader to guide and inspire our software engineering teams, driving strategic initiatives to design, build, and deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions. This role demands a unique blend of visionary leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on technical expertise in modern software architecture and design. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading large-scale application modernization efforts—specifically migrating multiple mainframe and other legacy applications in a highly regulated financial environment to the latest technologies.

You will be a catalyst for innovation, fostering a culture of continuous learning, improving development practices, and ensuring successful delivery from project inception to production in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to multiple software engineering teams.

  • Define and execute the engineering roadmap aligned with business and product priorities.

  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance engineering culture.

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, inspire, and manage a team of software engineers, setting clear objectives and fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, design, and global stakeholders to align technology goals with business objectives.

  • Mentor and develop engineering leaders to facilitate career growth and succession planning.

  • Identify and address resource gaps, making strategic hiring decisions and leveraging external partners as needed.

 Engineering Vision, Strategy & Delivery

  • Drive the adoption of an engineering strategy and technology roadmap that aligns with the company's strategic objectives.

  • Oversee and guide the transformation of legacy mainframe applications to cloud platforms in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure engineering best practices, code quality, performance, and maintainability.

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software products by establishing and maintaining rigorous testing, performance monitoring, and quality assurance processes.

  • Drive projects from ideation and architecture through full production deployment.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends; proactively identify opportunities for adoption.

  • Promote automation, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and agile methodologies.

  • Continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and team capabilities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve engineering processes and tools; optimize team efficiency, product quality, and delivery timelines.

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure the engineering team remains at the cutting edge.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with product, compliance, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver robust, compliant solutions.

  • Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs effectively to executives and stakeholders.

  • Serve as a technical and strategic advisor to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.

  • Proven experience leading large-scale migrations from mainframe applications to modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in highly regulated financial industries.

  • Strong background in modern software architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems.

  • Deep understanding of security, compliance, and risk management in financial systems.

  • Successful track record of delivering end-to-end projects from inception through production.

  • Experience managing multiple teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in technologies e.g., API, Java, Snowflake, Postgres, Cloud services, AI/ML, microservices architecture, DevOps/SRE and test automation frameworks

  • Experience working with Agile at scale (SAFe, LeSS, etc.).

  • Passion for technology and continuous learning.
