About the Role:

As the Director of Product, Data Platform, you will drive the strategy, development, and scaling of Remitly's data infrastructure, ensuring it serves as a foundation for intelligent decision-making, compliance, and customer-centric innovations. This is a high-impact leadership role that will shape the future of Remitly's data ecosystem. You will report to the VP of Product - Data and Platforms and collaborate with various engineering teams to achieve your roadmap and goals. This position is hybrid and based in our headquarters in Seattle, WA.

You Will:

  • Develop and drive the data platform vision that aligns with Remitly's mission and business objectives.
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for data infrastructure, architecture (centralized data catalog, along with the processes of adding or modifying schemas), analytics, and machine learning-driven decisioning systems.
  • Prioritize, plan, and oversee the execution of the data platform roadmap, balancing long-term strategic investments with short-term tactical needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering to build next-generation data platform - scalable, secure, and high-availability data platforms, ensuring low-latency, high-reliability data pipelines.
  • Enable the development of AI/ML models, analytics tools, and data-driven insights that improve customer experiences and optimize business processes.
  • Partner with analytics teams to democratize access to Remitly's data via a self-serve approach while providing clear governance and access control
  • Work closely with engineering, compliance, finance, and risk teams to deliver data-driven solutions at scale.
  • Evangelize a data-first culture, influencing decision-making across product and business teams.
  • Effectively communicate the impact and value of data initiatives to executive leadership, partners, and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing platform team focused on data products and infrastructure.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years in data-related roles (e.g., data platforms, AI/ML, analytics, fintech).
  • Strong background in big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Strong technical acumen, with a deep understanding of data platforms, cloud infrastructure, data governance, and AI/ML applications
  • Proven track record of building and scaling data platforms with measurable business impact.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Fintech or payments industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, etc.); MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $200,000 - $250,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
