The Director, FP&A is responsible for managing financial planning activities, such as budgeting, financial planning and analysis, and long-term financial planning for the organization. This position is responsible for the budgeting process for RPA and provides timely and insightful analysis to all core stakeholders.
Core Accountabilities
Budget and Forecasting
Partnering with the CFO, the Director of FP&A manages the budgeting process that provides knowledge and accountability to P&L owners and other responsible staff. Provides reporting to core P&Ls for understanding of revenue and expenses; provides business intelligence and analysis around profitability, realization, etc. to better inform individual lines of business as well as the overall RPA business model. Thought partner to CFO, COO and CEO on scenario planning for multi-year operating and capital budget expenditures.
Information and Business Advice
Leads the organization on FP&A and financial reporting content knowledge and best practices and provides financial education to the finance team and the broader organization. Partners with SVP’s of service lines to model client-level profit and loss and pricing.
Financial Reporting
Responsible for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports including internal and external monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manages and maintains a strict deadline to close the financial activities of the month, including the preparation and analysis of the monthly balance sheet and statement of activities. Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation of all accounts. Ensures alignment with budgeting process.
Insights and Analytics
Design and create reporting strategies and templates. Lead execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations. Partners with business leads to develop KPI’s for performance and partners with IT to deliver data for performance monitoring.
Relationship Management
Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with internal clients, building effective working relationships and providing high-quality professional services to support in delivering business strategy and plans. Develops strong working relationships with senior leadership to understand data needs of the organization and trains FP&A staff on delivering analytics to the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for all decisions related to the management of the function and staff regarding personnel actions, acquisitions and utilization of resources, procedures, and control systems.

This position is responsible to the CFO and People & Culture to build out the FP&A unit to include providing data analytics and future services.

Responsible for supervision of the team of analysts and acts in influence role across the organization.
Desired Qualifications and experience

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Knowledge and understanding of general business matters required including budget development, financial reporting, GAAP, cash management, nonprofit finance and accounting regulations (including fiscal sponsorship), business taxes, banking and debt financing instruments (10 years).

Experience in the nonprofit, philanthropic or related field.

An understanding of the broad spectrum of private philanthropy, including trends in giving and key issues for individual, family, institutional and corporate donors.

Ability to effectively communicate accounting and finance concepts to non-finance partners and staff.

Familiarity with grantmaking, charitable funds, or fiscal sponsorship preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including health coverage, retirement benefits, paid sick leave, vacation and holidays, tuition reimbursement and access to professional development resources.
The salary range is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
Pay Range: $173,000 - $176,000 salary per year.
