BIG is seeking a Databricks Solution Architect to join our Delivery team. As a Databricks SA you will provide high-level architectural direction, while addressing sophisticated technical challenges and will also play a key role as a pre-sales engineering resource.
You will partner with our customers to design scalable data architectures using Databricks technology and services. You have technical depth and business knowledge and can drive complex technology discussions which express the value of the Databricks platform throughout the sales lifecycle. You will engage with our customers' technical leads, including architects, and developers with the goal of establishing yourself as a trusted advisor to achieve tangible outcomes. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the end-to-end architecture of solutions centered around the Databricks Lakehouse Architecture, including its assembly
    and integration into the overall data architecture for our customers
  • Define the platform architecture documentation, data pipelines design and  documentation, work-effort estimation and hands-on sophisticated development.
  • Implement technical solutions for enterprise systems and build trust with customers in Databricks ability to meet their business requirements
  • You will work with Sales and other essential partners to support account strategies and play a senior pre-sales engineer role to help customers grow their usage of the Databricks platform.
  • You will build demo applications for prospects to help them understand how Databricks can be used to achieve their goals to land new users and use cases.
  • You will work with Data Scientists and ML Developers to support the development of AI and GenAI solutions.
  • You will be a resident expert in Databricks and follow all the developments in the platform to ensure we can provide the latest advice to our customers.
  • Understand and guide on what frameworks, platform application, or technical stack can be used to devise a solution.
  • Responsible for the management and mitigation of technical risks, ensuring that the solution services can be realistically delivered by the underlying technology components.
  • Conduct in-depth Databricks specific code reviews to optimize resource utilization and capabilities.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of Databricks products by making technical contributions and by providing critical updates from the field.
  • Actively test and clearly document implementations, so others can easily understand
  • Provide mentorship on advanced Databricks technical capabilities

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • 5+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role with expertise in at least one of the following technologies:
    • Big data engineering (Ex: Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
    • Data Warehousing & ETL (Ex: SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS)
    • Data Science and Machine Learning (Ex: pandas, scikit-learn, HPO)
    • Data Applications (Ex: Logs Analysis, Threat Detection, Real-time Systems Monitoring, Risk Analysis and more)
  • 3+ years of working directly with Databricks 
  • At least one Databricks certification at the professional level 
  • Experience translating a customer's business needs to technology solutions, including establishing buy-in with essential customer stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Experienced at designing, architecting, and presenting data systems for customers and managing the delivery of production solutions of those data architectures.
  • Fluent in SQL and database technology.
  • Debug and development experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, Scala, Java, or R.
  • Working knowledge of the hyperscaler technologies like AWS, Azure and GCP
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research) would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
  • Problem-solving abilities with a focus on customer-centric solutions
  • Strong project management skills with attention to deadlines and quality
  • A customer-first mindset to align solutions with business goals
  • Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and solution delivery
