We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time temporary Data Scientist 3 to join our IT team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Manager, Data & Analytics, you will be responsible for designing, creating, training, and deploying machine learning models as part of the analytics development team. In this role you will support the analytics delivery team and contribute to in-house solutions, including AI chatbots, quantum computing, large language models, and other innovative technologies.
You will be responsible for:

Working with data engineers, machine learning engineers, data analysts, and other data scientists in an agile sprint environment to create and deploy machine learning models.

Identifying and evaluating new machine learning techniques to improve, design, and create machine learning solutions that are tailored to the business problem and requirements.

Vetting the architecture of various projects to ensure they are designed for best practices.

Working with the manager and other data scientists to identify technical and data requirements to create analytical solutions catered to the business.

Working with business stakeholders to understand project timelines, expectations, and business value impact.

Staying up to date on the latest research and being able to experiment with theoretical techniques from research papers and transform them into working prototypes.

Collaborating with data engineers to manipulate, extract, and design features from large datasets.

Comparing different versions of machine learning models using methods like AB testing, champion/challenger, etc.

Finding unique and creative insights to identify new opportunities to drive business value.
A PhD in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience in data science and machine learning is preferred. However, candidates with a master’s degree and significant experience at a large tech company are also encouraged to apply
You have:

Extensive experience in building and developing machine learning models using Python and packages such as Tensorflow, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, etc.

Experience in Linux-based cloud computing infrastructures such as Azure, AWS or GCP.

Strong mathematical maturity to read and comprehend technical research and white papers and summarize the material for others.

Experience developing ML workflows with distributed systems and file structures including Hadoop, Spark and Databricks.

Experience on data science skills such as supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning, and reinforcement learning techniques.

Experience with hyper-parameter tuning, validation, and bootstrapping.

Statistical and mathematical skills, including knowledge and experience on regression, t-test, statistical distributions, linear algebra, optimization, tensors.

Experience integrating data from various data sources including enterprise databases such as Azure SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, etc. leveraging advanced SQL.

Experience collaborating with a team of data scientists, data engineers, machine learning engineers to work on large-scale projects using an agile sprint process.

Ability to analyze large amounts of information and uncover valuable insights.

Compensation Details:
$97,875.00 - $130,500.00
The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
