We’re seeking a skilled Data Engineer with expertise in ETL, relational databases, and cloud infrastructure.

At REW.ca, we believe real estate is one of life’s great adventures. As Canada’s leading real estate platform, we empower millions of Canadians to navigate their home search journeys with confidence. By combining innovative technology, deep market insights, and a seamless user experience, REW.ca empowers home seekers to find their perfect home. Our mission is to make real estate a more personal experience, guided by care, empathy, and innovation.

We’ve done this by carefully assembling a team of great people who have great ideas. One of those genius-level ideas is to make REW quite simply the best place in the world to work.

And that’s where you come in.

We’re searching for a hugely-motivated Data Engineer to help our Data Team wrangle real estate data, build sustainable infrastructure, and support analytics.

A love of working with amazing people will be viewed as a plus, too.

Rocking the role.

Data is at the heart of everything we do at REW.  Every day, our platform ingests feeds from dozens of sources to compile, composite and augment the listings that thousands of homeseekers search through in their quest for the perfect home.

You would join a small team in evolving REW’s existing data platform. Your role may include responding to upstream changes from some of our feed providers, optimizing performance to respond to increased demand or troubleshooting integrity issues.

As you grow in the role, you’ll earn the opportunity to take on more complex problems and own all aspects of developing end-to-end data flows, including gathering requirements, data modeling, ETL script development and data quality control.

We support work on an agile data platform built on the cloud utilizing big-data tools to extract, transform and load data from a variety of sources. Our Data Engineers act as key technical resources, participating in architectural design, developing robust, reliable workflows and ensuring data accuracy and availability.

With a Great Role comes Great Responsibilities.

  • Maintaining and enhancing REW’s data platform
  • Developing, debugging, and optimizing ETL pipelines
  • Building sustainable infrastructure to host our data pipelines
  • Data processing and data modelling
  • Collaborating with various internal teams and stakeholders to power new services and features
  • Developing reports or data visualization tools for internal use to help support the REW's sales and marketing efforts
  • Participating in project planning and analysis as needed.

Who you are is far more important than where you’ve been.

Qualifications.

  • Minimum of one year of professional experience with data engineering/analysis and big data tech stacks
  • Bachelor of Computer Science, similar technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Python or similar language for data processing with exposure to other scripting and object-oriented programming languages
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and technologies
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience in relational database development and data modelling
  • Proven experience in AWS, GCS or similar cloud providers.

Who you are and your life at REW.

  • You are passionate about personal and professional growth, always seeking new knowledge and innovative technologies.
  • You thrive on sharing insights and knowledge with peers to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • You can maintain a balance between independent work and teamwork, contributing positively to team dynamics and company culture.
  • Creativity is in your DNA. You run head-first at problems with real enthusiasm, always on the look-out for solutions that add value and make a positive impact on our people, and the people we serve.
  • You communicate technical designs and concepts with clarity, ensuring alignment and understanding across the team.
  • You are willing to work at least 1 day a week in-office at our Vancouver location.

What we can offer you.
In addition to competitive compensation, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, the best equipment for you to do your best work, and awesome perks and team events to keep you connected. Annual base salary for this role is $100,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.
