You have a strong desire to solve problems, deliver results, and grow professionally within the company. Ideally, you have experience with ticketing, merchandise, and/or POS data, and an interest in how data visualization brings insights to life.

In this role, you will be analyzing, designing, creating data models, developing and supporting code responsible for data processing. If you have passion for analysis of data and like to solve puzzles, read on!

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a high-performing Data Engineer who’s passionate about turning raw data into meaningful insights and scalable systems. This is a role for someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys tackling complex analytical challenges, and wants to see their work directly influence real-world fan experiences across sports, music, and entertainment.

As a Data Engineer at Tradable Bits, you’ll design, build, and optimize data pipelines and models that power reporting, analytics, and data visualizations for our clients. You’ll collaborate closely with analysts and stakeholders to ensure that complex data is presented clearly and effectively through dashboards and reporting tools. You’ll be hands-on with both SQL and non-SQL databases, working closely with engineers and analysts to ensure data accuracy, performance, and usability across our platform.

This is a primarily in-office role based in our Vancouver Mount Pleasant office, where you’ll collaborate with a small, talented, and friendly development team to deliver high-quality, impactful solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Analyze data using SQL and non-SQL tools.
  • Build and maintain full-cycle data pipelines (extraction, transformation, enrichment, loading, QA, and auditing).
  • Review engineering code to identify and resolve data accuracy issues.
  • Design, implement, and evolve data models.
  • Work with columnar databases across the BI lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with analysts to enable effective data visualization through tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or internal dashboards.
  • Apply machine learning, AI, and statistical methods to data analysis.
  • Collaborate with a small, talented, and supportive development team.

MUST HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong background in RDBMS (PostgreSQL preferred, but other engines accepted).
  • Solid understanding of data modelling.
  • Experience with data processing algorithms and methods.
  • Expert-level SQL and database programming (including stored procedures).
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot complex analytical code.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving database performance issues.
  • Understanding of business processes and their relationship to data structures and processing.
  • Knowledge of core Unix concepts (threading, processes, memory) with hands-on Linux experience.
  • Proficiency in Python (primary tool of choice).
  • Familiarity with GNU stack.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Math, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.

ASSETS (NICE TO HAVE)

  • Experience with ticketing, merchandise, and/or POS data.
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis, statistics, and machine learning.
  • Experience supporting or integrating with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, or Looker).

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Ability to manage your own workload in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
  • Experience working with Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent, accountable, and comfortable owning features end-to-end.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a sense of humour.
  • Excited to contribute in a scale-up environment.

WHY JOIN US

At Tradable Bits, you’ll have the opportunity to make a measurable impact on a growing company that powers fan engagement for some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, curious, and supportive team that values initiative, innovation, and continuous improvement.

We’d love to hear from you if you’re excited about solving complex challenges, optimizing systems, and helping revenue teams thrive.
