Role Overview

We are hiring a Crowd Animator to create high-quality crowd animation that enhances the scale, energy, and believability of animated scenes. This role focuses on developing and refining reusable crowd cycles and performances, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into production while maintaining the project's artistic style and technical standards. Working independently on standard assignments, the Crowd Animator contributes reliable, production-ready work throughout the animation pipeline. 

What You’ll Do 
  • Collaborate with the CG Supervisor and Crowd Supervisor to interpret storyboards, animatics, and creative direction into production-ready crowd animation cycles and performances. 
  • Create reusable crowd animation with natural variation while maintaining consistency across assets, sequences, and the project’s visual style. 
  • Manage assigned work independently, communicating progress, timelines, and potential risks to ensure delivery within production schedules.  
  • Identify animation or technical challenges and collaborate with leads to determine effective solutions.  
  • Participate in dailies by presenting work, applying feedback, and contributing constructive feedback to the team. 
  • Work closely with the CG Supervisor, Crowd Supervisor, and production team to align crowd animation with creative and technical requirements. 

RequirementsWhat You’ll BringRequired
  • 2+ years professional experience animating characters or crowds for television or feature animation 
  • Demonstrated ability to create believable looping animation cycles and crowd performances. 
  • Experience interpreting storyboards, animatics, and creative direction into finished animation. 
  • Portfolio or demo reel demonstrating strong timing, weight, spacing, and performance. 
  • Ability to independently deliver production-ready animation while meeting established deadlines. 
  • Familiarity with collaborative animation production pipelines and review processes. 
Preferred
  • Experience creating large-scale crowd or background character animation. 
  • Experience working with reusable animation libraries, crowd systems, or animation cycle workflows. 

Benefits

Pay Range: CAD $1350 - $1500 per week   

This salary range provided reflects our current expectations for these roles as of this posting’s date. Your final salary offer will consider various key factors, including your education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographical location, as well as the needs and requirements of the business.
