ERM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant, Archeologist, Field Director in British Columbia to join our global consulting firm as part of our archaeology and cultural heritage team in Vancouver or Smithers, BC. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance for archaeological desk-based studies and be the field director for studies within British Columbia and northern Canada. The successful candidate will work with our team to complete field investigations, data processing and reporting tasks for archeological assessments. This is a permanent fulltime, position and an excellent opportunity for an archeologist to join a growing and exciting technical team, as you build a rewarding career path with a global environmental leader.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead archeological field programs.
  • Oversee field studies and manage subcontractors, lead field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archeological studies.
  • Conduct research and writing for archeological and cultural heritage assessments.
  • Perform artifact analysis and cataloguing.
  • Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the area of archeology and cultural heritage, specifically in Western Canada.
  • Interact with other ERM service areas to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the country.
  • Represent ERM through communications and at meetings with provincial/territorial and federal agencies.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via email, phone conferences, and in person.
  • Preparing reports to meet client and regulatory needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archeology or Anthropology or related field (with a focus in archeology); master’s degree preferred. Or equivalent experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated business development abilities.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
  • Travel will be required.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.  
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

For the Consultant, Archeologist, Field Director position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $69,559 – $90,000 (CAD).  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
