Responsabilités :

  • Tarification des risques complexes de la réassurance facultative, selon les directives de tarification de RGA
  • Service rapide, efficace et courtois, tout en apportant une expertise technique et un soutien aux client(e)s.
  • Respect constant des normes de qualité et de rapidité du service.
  • Capacité de travailler de façon autonome sur les dossiers les plus complexes, dans la limite de ses pouvoirs d’approbation.
  • Cosignature des dossiers des tarificateurs juniors et offre d’encadrement, de formation et de mentorat
  • Communication efficace avec les équipes, internes notamment les équipes chargées de la tarification, du développement commercial, de l’administration, des réclamations, de la tarification globale et des équipes médicales.
  • Révision et contribution à la conception des produits, des dispositions des polices, des traités, des lignes directrices en matière de tarification et les initiatives de développement commercial.
  • Participation aux activités organisées par RGA et le secteur de l’assurance, dans le but d’entretenir de fortes relations avec les clients.

Savoir-faire

  • Compréhension approfondie des techniques de tarification médicale et financière et maintien à jour de ses connaissances sur les tendances et progrès de l’industrie
  • Capacité d’appliquer ses connaissances techniques aux dossiers les plus complexes
  • Solide compréhension des concepts de vente aux personnes bien nanties et de leurs applications sur le marché et capacité à former ses pairs

Leadership et collaboration

  • Capacité de soutenir la direction du service en contribuant à la formation, en dirigeant des discussions d’équipe et en contribuant à la résolution des problèmes techniques et des problèmes des clients
  • Participation active à la gestion interne des risques, aux initiatives opérationnelles et aux projets spéciaux (par exemple, conservation des données, systèmes de tarification, GUM, manuel de procédures de tarification).
  • Gestion efficace des situations sous forte pression et résolution proactive des problèmes.
  • Contribution et prise en charge de projets d’équipe, campagnes et initiatives stratégiques.
  • Création d’un Environnement de collaboration et de recherche de solutions avec les parties prenantes internes et externes.

Aptitudes

  • Autorité d’approbation jusqu’à 10 millions de dollars (assurance vie) et 1 million de dollars (assurance Maladies graves).
  • 10 à 15 ans d’expérience en tarification de produits d’assurance vie individuelle.
  • Connaissance approfondie de la terminologie médicale, de la législation sur l’assurance et des principes comptables basés sur le risque.
  • Expérience confirmée dans la tarification de dossiers complexes et de grande valeur.
  • Maîtrise des facteurs de risque médicaux et financiers.
  • Réflexion analytique poussée et jugement sûr dans les décisions à enjeu élevé.
  • Compétence dans l’interprétation sous pression de documents médicaux et financiers avancés.
  • Excellent sens de l’organisation et capacité à établir des priorités et à répondre dans des environnements où le rythme est soutenu.
  • Communiquer clairement et efficacement, tant à l’écrit qu’à l’oral.
  • Établissement de relations solides et capacité à favoriser la collaboration entre les équipes.
  • Orientation vers le client, attitude proactive et alignement sur les objectifs de l’entreprise.
  • Autonomie, adaptabilité et envie d’atteindre l’excellence.
  • Titre professionnel de FLMI ou de FALU ou autre titre pertinent reconnu par l’industrie, ou  engagement à l’obtenir.
  • Maîtrise du français et de l’anglais à l’oral comme à l’écrit, un atout
  • Expérience dans plusieurs secteurs d’activité (assurance vie, invalidité, maladies graves), un atout

Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, the Sr Underwriting Consultant assumes responsibility for the risk selection in order to meet departmental objectives. 

Remote position in Canada

Responsibilities :

  • Underwrite complex facultative risks in alignment with RGA underwriting guidelines.
  • Deliver prompt, efficient, and courteous service while providing technical expertise and support to clients.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality service standards are consistently met.
  • Act independently on the most complicated cases within delegated authority.
  • Co-sign cases for junior underwriters and provide mentorship, training, and guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including pricing, business development, administration, claims, global underwriting, and medical teams.
  • Review and contribute to product design, policy provisions, treaties, underwriting guidelines, and business development initiatives.
  • Participate in RGA events and industry activities to foster strong client relationships.

Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of medical and financial underwriting techniques and maintains awareness of industry trends and advancements.
  • Applies critical thinking and technical knowledge to the most complex casework.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of high-net-worth (HNW) sales concepts and their market applications, with the ability to educate others.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Supports departmental management through training, leading team discussions, and contributing to the resolution of technical and client issues.
  • Actively participates in internal risk management, operational initiatives, and special projects (e.g., data retention, underwriting systems, GUM, UW Procedural Manual).
  • Effectively manages high-pressure situations and proactively addresses challenges.
  • Provides input and leadership in team projects, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
  • Fosters a collaborative and solution-oriented environment across internal and external stakeholders.

Skills :

  • Underwriting authority up to $10M (Life) and $1M (Critical Illness).
  • 10–15+ years of experience in Individual Life underwriting.
  • Deep expertise in medical terminology, insurance law, and risk-based accounting.
  • Proven track record in underwriting complex, high-net-worth cases.
  • Strong grasp of medical and financial risk factors.
  • Sharp analytical thinking and sound judgment in high-stakes decisions.
  • Skilled in interpreting advanced medical and financial documentation under pressure.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and deliver in fast-paced environments.
  • Clear and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Builds strong relationships and fosters collaboration across teams.
  • Client-focused, proactive, and aligned with business goals.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and committed to excellence.
  • FLMI or FALU designations, or significant progress towards obtaining these or other related industry designations
  • Bilingual French/English (oral and written) an asset
  • Multiple lines of business ((Life, DI, CI) an asset

Compensation Range:

$113,050.00 - $141,300.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
