The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Commissions Analyst to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Manager, Commissions, the Commissions Analyst is responsible for analysis and reporting to ensure the accuracy of commissions for our partners. The position also takes part in projects and supports issues with stakeholders.

What your day looks like:

  • Ensure the accuracy and operational effectiveness across all platforms including managing revenues, commission payments and expenses in commission record-keeping systems; resolving discrepancies, delays, and errors in payment
  • Respond to external and internal inquiries about projects, commission compensation, and liaising with financial service providers to resolve issues by working with the team to investigate and resolve issues within our SLA’s, ensuring prevention of reoccurrence
  • Input compensation data into the commission databases and processing systems, and generating commission extracts to enable payments to partners
  • Support projects by working with Operations/Business Development teams to gather and document business requirements for projects, and perform ad hoc analysis to support decisions in conversion projects
  • Review scheduled changes on Aviso’s systems, assessing potential impacts and participating in commissions related UATs (user acceptance testing) of changes before implemented on systems
  • Analyze current business practices and identify areas for improvement and document new processes as projects are being completed
  • Support daily commission processing from carriers and fund companies across all platforms, reconciling any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Re-calculate and explain complex commissions’ calculations on a broad range of products and reconcile and resolve all un-reconciled commissions’ payments prior to month end

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Post-secondary education in business operations, accounting, or finance
  • Advanced Excel skills needed, with knowledge of Power Query as an asset
  • Knowledge of SQL and able to use queries
  • 3+ years progressive work experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial services
  • Self-motivated, accountable, results driven, proactive and comfortable asking questions to ensure clarity
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail, deadline driven and customer focused
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
