💻 Role

We are seeking a new grad to join the CyberSecurity team. The CyberSecurity team at Whatnot is responsible for the security and protection of all information trusted to Whatnot's by its customers (sellers and buyers), partners, and employees. In this role, you will ensure the integrity and security of Whatnot's entire cloud infrastructure including SaaS applications. Your work will be essential in assessing threats and developing defenses that can stop or mitigate cyber issues such as attacks and data breaches.

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our New York, NY,  San Francisco, CA, or Los Angeles, CA hubs.

  • You will conduct security assessments / testing, harden our infrastructure, develop comprehensive threat detection capabilities, and build the security fabric for a modern scale production infrastructure
  • Conduct in-depth security reviews of infrastructure controls, back-end services, and business integrations, as well as build tools for a secure environment
  • Design and implement secure solutions for authentication and authorization, networking, orchestration, deployment configuration, logging, system hardening, threat hunting and debugging of cloud services
  • Investigate events, triage potential incidents, and work closely with multiple teams during incidents to drive response efforts
  • Be a champion for security and user privacy

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science graduating by Summer 2025
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Basic experience with AWS cloud provider
  • Good understanding of cloud and network security
  • Fluency in Python and TypeScript
  • Understanding of modern cloud technology components and deployment patterns: virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes, serverless, infrastructure as code, etc

💰Compensation

US-based applicants: $130,000/year - $140,000/year + benefits + equity.

The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity.
