Job Description

AECOM is searching for a Civil Engineering/EIT to be based in our Kelowna, British Columbia office. While this is an entry level position, the ideal successful candidate will have a general understanding of civil design, construction, and some experience in civil engineering from COOP terms. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and clients.  They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy, and enthusiasm for getting things done! The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of linear conveyance infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal storm water, water and wastewater sector.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater/drainage conveyance facilities
  • Writing of technical memorandums and reports
  • Performing construction inspections
  • Preparing documentation for design projects and reports
  • Assisting with the preparation of construction cost estimates
  • Assisting with the preparation of project specifications and contract documents

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Eligible for registration as an EIT with EGBC
  • Experience in civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, and design construction inspection
  • Working knowledge of contract documentation including MMCD and CCDC
  • Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment
  • Working knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, raingardens, etc.
  • Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
