Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented Civil Engineering Intern to join our team here at the Burnaby, BC office!

This is a 4 month or 8 months term that will begin in January 2026.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist the Project Coordinator with transportation projects .

  • Provide project coordination assistance for design and construction of infrastructure projects to support project managers with ensuring delivery of design deliverables.

  • Support project managers with routine and non-routine tasks.

  • Under supervision, work with 3rd parties and client organizations

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Processes documents (including indexing into database and/or enterprise content management system).

  • May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues.

  • Typical duties will include:

    • Attend meetings and prepare minutes of meetings.

    • Monitor project costs and budgets.

    • Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports.

    • Set up new projects and track monthly billing.

    • Prepare project schedules and monitor progress of work.

    • Review and compile client submittals

    • Assist with the preparation of technical specifications and bid documents

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar discipline, and must have completed at least 2 years of study.

  • Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are also eligible to apply for these positions. 

  • Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Good communication and time management skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software

  • A positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with others

  • Knowledge of any of these software

Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
