Durable builds technology that makes business ownership frictionless.
We believe in a world where everyone is a business owner. Whether it's a full-time, part-time, or side hustle - we want to make it frictionless to start and operate a business. Over 3 million business owners have launched with Durable.
We are generating significant revenue, well-funded by Silicon Valley investors, and growing extremely fast. Our vision is much bigger, and we're looking for incredible people to join our team and make an impact.
About the role:We’re hiring a Chief of Staff to help the company run better as we scale.
This is a true generalist role at the center of the business. You’ll work across operations, people processes, recruiting support, company rhythms, and leadership execution. You’ll help turn priorities into action, connect threads across teams, and make sure work doesn’t stall or drift.
Our leadership team moves quickly. This role exists to enable them to do their best work without being bogged down by process, while ensuring core company functions like finance, HR, recruiting, and internal operations keep pace in the background.
There’s no playbook and limited hand-holding. You’ll be expected to step into ambiguous problems, figure out what matters, and push things forward.
This is an execution-first role. You’ll own both the unglamorous basics that keep the company running and the harder, unowned problems that need figuring out.
This is a hybrid role based in Vancouver. We are in-office twice per week on Mondays and Thursdays.
What you'll do:
Core operations
- Own core company rhythms including all-hands, leadership meetings, and planning cadences
- Prepare agendas, track action items, and ensure follow-through on decisions
- Own and maintain key metrics and reporting so leadership has clear visibility into what’s happening
- Keep the operational “basics” running smoothly even as priorities shift
Leadership support
- Take ownership of special projects that don’t have a clear home and drive them to resolution
- Connect threads across teams and functions to keep work aligned with company goals
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or misalignment and proactively address them
- Use AI and automation to improve how the company operates across the board
People ops
- Own onboarding end-to-end so new hires ramp quickly and consistently
- Facilitate recruitment (both internally, and using external recruiters as needed) including scheduling, candidate coordination, and offers
- Handle operational details like organizing team onsites, office coordination, and internal logistics
- Maintain people-related documentation and workflows with care and discretion
What you'll bring:
- 3+ years experience in operations, people ops, or generalist roles in a startup environment
- Strong operational judgment and ability to prioritize without constant direction
- Comfort managing up and pushing for follow-through when things stall
- Experience owning metrics, workflows, and accountability
- Practical experience improving or automating processes after running them manually
- Clear, direct communication and strong follow-through
- High trust, discretion, and ownership mindset
Who you are
- You’re comfortable being spread across functions and managing tradeoffs
- You don’t wait for perfect clarity to act
- You’re organized, direct, and not afraid to nudge senior leaders
- You want to gain experience across all facets of a startup - with a trajectory into ops, marketing, or product
Success looks like
- Company rhythms are predictable, useful, and low-drama
- Teams follow through on commitments without constant chasing
- Leadership has clear, reliable metrics and fewer operational blind spots
- Onboarding and recruiting feel consistent and well-run
- Processes get simpler over time, not heavier
