About the role

We’re looking for a Business Development, Account Manager to join our growing team!
 

As a Business Development Account Manager, you will be responsible for building strong relationships and growing the business. You will work independently and collaboratively and play a key role in creating strategic business development plans with brokers. You will utilize your strong sales and communication skills to find new opportunities for profitable growth. This is a permanent position reporting to the Business Development Director in British Columbia.

What you’ll do here:

  • Develop and implement a business development plan to achieve growth objectives and develop business relationships with brokerages under your responsibility.

  • Ensure broker relationships are healthy and prospering, adapting your approach and strategy accordingly.  Communicate organizational strategy, including product, appetite, new rating programs and pricing methodology etc.

  • Collaborate with the Regional Directors and Managers to execute objectives, such as growth, profitability, mix of business and retention and work with other internal stakeholders such as Underwriting.

  • Understand the market and environment in which you operate. Monitor all company operations influencing business relationships with brokerages under your responsibility.

  • Seek new business opportunities and present and sell Intact’s overall offering of insurance products and services as well as advise brokerages on marketing solutions.

  • Share network knowledge with the team and act as a business development mobilizer.

  • Represent your role and region on various regional and provincial committees and advise other areas of the company (Actuarial, Finance, HR, Marketing and other departments).

What you bring to the table:

  • The ideal candidate would have a dynamic personality with a minimum of 5 years proven track record of building strong broker relationships including: regular face to face broker visits, savvy negotiation skills, consistent networking and attending Insurance Industry events.

  • A strategically minded person who can cultivate relationships with successful sales growth results and speak knowledgably about Property and Casualty insurance.

  • Commercial Lines Underwriting experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to influence business relationships to achieve business development and growth objectives.

  • Strong communication skills in having open and honest conversations with brokers, understanding their needs and providing solutions with Intact’s insurance products and services.

  • Good knowledge of the brokerage network and insurance products (home and business).

  • Availability to attend various activities outside of normal business hours.

  • Adept at handling objections and can negotiate moderate to complex situations.

  • Good management of the pressure to achieve objectives.

  • Demonstrate a high level of autonomy, organization and proactivity.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Good knowledge of software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online presentation tools.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

  • Have a valid class 5 driver's license with good driving record.

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity:

$81,800.00 - $122,800.00
