Who Are We?

At CMLS Financial, we strike a unique balance: the financial strength of a 50-year industry leader with the energy of a dynamic, fast-paced firm.

  • Growth & Exposure: With over $45 billion in assets under administration, our "booming" business means you gain high-level exposure and real opportunities for career advancement.
  • Supportive Culture: We are professional yet enjoyable. We provide a challenging environment supported by a team that wants you to succeed.
  • National Reach: Work with Canada’s most prominent banks, investment managers, and pension funds from a platform with offices coast to coast.

Builders. Problem-solvers. Curious minds. People who move fast, embrace innovation, and believe we’re stronger together.

Help us build the future of commercial mortgage technology and bridge the gap between business intent and technical reality. As a Business Analyst, you will look beyond configuration to focus on the 'how' of our product - writing the user stories, designing the interfaces, and defining the requirements that drive our platform forward.

What you’ll be doing

  • Drive innovation by transforming stakeholder ideas into user stories, feature scopes, and technical requirements.
  • Own the interface by creating customer journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes that define the user experience before it reaches the development phase.
  • Investigate system behaviour, navigate databases, and resolve reported issues at the source.
  • Work side-by-side with front-end and back-end developers to ensure technical feasibility and seamless execution of new features.
  • Build close relationships with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze user behaviour, and champion product improvements that solve real-world pain points.
  • Implement system changes and configurations to tailor our lending solutions to the specific business needs of our operations and our partners.
  • Serve as a key support contact by receiving and triaging stakeholder inquiries and bug reports, working closely with both stakeholders and developers to diagnose issues, communicate transparently on status, and drive timely resolutions.
  • Bring genuine curiosity to every interaction and proactively learn the nuances of commercial mortgage lending, the legacy systems being maintained, and the evolving platform being built, so you can operate with greater effectiveness and consistently deliver impactful solutions.

Who we are looking for

  • Two (2) years of experience as a business analyst, product analyst, or project management.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, business, information technology,  commercial real estate, or a related field. Having a PMP or BA certification is a great plus!
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment, maintaining tight feedback loops between internal and external stakeholders.
  • You possess a natural "owner" mindset with the initiative to identify pain points and drive feature ideas from concept to completion.
  • You leverage tools such as JIRA, Microsoft DevOps, the Microsoft Office Suite, SQL and Figma to investigate system behaviour and navigate databases independently, allowing you to anticipate edge cases and document the "if/then" logic required for a bulletproof feature.
  • You can take a high-level, sometimes vague business request and distill it into a structured technical requirement that an engineer can execute without constant back-and-forth.
  • You understand how a single change in one part of the platform can ripple across the entire ecosystem, and you document those dependencies meticulously.
  • You communicate with clarity and confidence across all levels, translating complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and grounding business context for engineering teams so that nothing gets lost in translation.
  • You set and manage stakeholder expectations with honesty and professionalism, keeping the right people informed at the right time.
  • You are comfortable and enthusiastic about learning new tools and technologies, including AI, and actively seek out ways to incorporate them into how you work and solve problems.
  • You know how to work independently and take ownership of your workload, with the self-awareness to distinguish between problems worth solving on your own and situations that warrant escalation.

The Reward

  • The A-Team: Work alongside high-performing talent in the industry.
  • Accelerated Growth: The slope of your learning curve here will be vertical. You will touch more production systems in one year than you would in five years at a bank.
  • Top-Tier Coverage: Premium benefits plan fully paid by nesto, including comprehensive insurance and unlimited access to telemedicine and mental health services for you and your family.
  • Rest & Recharge: 4 weeks of vacation to ensure you stay at peak performance.
  • Best-in-Class Tools: Access to the resources and tech you need to execute without friction.
  • Working framework: the environment that makes you productive and enables teamwork.

Diversity and Inclusion

At CMLS Financial, we believe that creativity and collaboration are the result of a diverse team. We are committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and we strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities to apply. We are committed to creating a workplace that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
