Job Description

AECOM Burnaby is hiring a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Manager.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Project Delivery: Manage medium to large-scale BRT projects from concept through construction, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget adherence. Oversee the technical execution and quality control of engineering design and construction efforts, with minimal supervision.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical expert in BRT projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, identifying discrepancies, and solving problems by modifying standard approaches where necessary. Ensure project work aligns with established engineering procedures.
  • Business Development: Actively support the growth of the BRT market by building and maintaining relationships with clients, assisting with marketing proposals, and tracking upcoming project opportunities. Engage in contract negotiations and project pursuits to expand business.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Ensure client satisfaction by consistently exceeding expectations in project delivery. Maintain close relationships with clients and stakeholders, addressing their needs and concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Team Leadership: Manage multidisciplinary teams, including sub-consultants and technical staff, to ensure successful project outcomes. Provide leadership and clear direction, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent AECOM by presenting at conferences, publishing technical papers, and sharing your expertise in BRT systems. Promote the company’s capabilities and reputation in the transit industry.


    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (Civil Engineering, Sciences, Urban Planning, Geography)
    • 6 years of relevant project management experience
    • PEng, PMP designation, or MBA or equivalent experience
    • 3+ years of specific experience in Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PEng designation is highly preferred
    • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, or a related field
    • PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification
    • Strong experience managing the review, approval, and delivery of technical documents, certifications, and processes across multiple projects
    • Comprehensive experience in the full lifecycle of large-scale capital improvement projects, from planning and design to contract preparation, procurement, and implementation
    • Expertise in budgeting, contract negotiation, and administration with both public and private organizations
    • Familiarity with preparing detailed scope statements, cost estimates, and project forecasts
    • Proficiency in professional scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) and Microsoft Office tools
    • Significant experience as a Project Manager in transit or infrastructure projects, ideally within BRT systems
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and engage with diverse stakeholders
