We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time IT Backup and Recovery Specialist to join our IT team in Langley, BC.  

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Support, you will collaborate with various internal IT stakeholders and other business areas to support IT infrastructure production and help achieve our business goals.
You will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring backup and recovery processes to ensure proper functioning and performance.

  • Performing regular recovery tests of critical systems to ensure that recovery processes are reliable and optimized and that time to restore can be measured.

  • Conducting regular system audits to identify and address backup inefficiencies or potential issues.

  • Optimizing backup processes for efficiency and resource utilization.

  • Defining and enforcing backup policies, ensuring compliance with our security, data retention and regulatory requirements.

  • Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in the event of data loss, system failure, cyberattack.

  • Implementing security measures to protect backup data from unauthorized access or manipulation.

  • Reviewing and updating backup policies based on evolving business needs and technological advancements.

  • Responding promptly to data loss incidents, coordinating recovery efforts, and minimizing data loss.

  • Collaborating with IT teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to understand data protection requirements.

  • Communicating effectively with management regarding backup and recovery status, issues, and resolutions.

You have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or equivalent working experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in a large enterprise responsible for backup and recovery.

  • Experience with implementing and supporting Windows Server, VMWare, Linux variants, and at least one of the major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

  • Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft 365 applications.

  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise directory platforms such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and LDAP.

  • A deep understanding of backup and recovery solutions, technologies, and best practices.

  • Proficiency with relevant software and hardware, including backup software, storage solutions, and disaster recovery tools.

  • Certifications in relevant technologies e.g., Veeam, Commvault, EMC, etc. is an asset.

  • Experience working in an information technology role in a retail organization is an asset.

Compensation Details:

$81,920.00 - $102,400.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
