ONLINE INFRASTRUCTUREWhat We Do

The Identity team owns the services that are the gateway to the Epic Games ecosystem for developers and players of all ages. Our Identity platform grants access to first party game titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, as well as third-party developers leveraging Epic Online Services. The Identity team solves key problems in authentication, authorization, account management, child safety & parental controls, account linking, account security & recovery, data privacy, and more.

What You'll Do

As a member of the Identity team you will craft high performance online services at scale focused on authentication, authorization, and account management. Backend Programmers focus mostly on the platform API services and operating the infrastructure it runs on. From design, implementation, and deployment you'll be able to shape the services and features that drive the future of Identity on the Epic Games ecosystem.

In this role, you will

  • Write distributed systems to handle large scale challenges supporting tens of millions of concurrent users (we primarily use Java)
  • Work with public cloud infrastructure to facilitate a fast moving ecosystem (we use AWS, K8s)
  • Own the entire lifecycle of services, including live operations and deployment
  • Store critical data in a secure and complaint way within non-relational databases (we use MongoDB, Dynamo and Redis)
  • Collaborate in healthy ways with producers, product owners, and other programmers, cloud, infrastructure or DevOps teammates
  • Provide feedback and estimates on feature development and other operational tasks
  • - Own the outcome - Be accountable for the solutions you build and flexible around the ambiguity of the problem space

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years of software programming experience, with experience in developing online systems
  • Solid background in writing distributed systems (REST / RPC / GraphQL) in large scale environments
  • Proven track record of operating live services
  • Experience owning and supporting team projects and features, from technical design to development to deployment with minimal oversight
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to provide, solicit and accept feedback constructively
  • Experience with the tech stack we use (Java, AWS, Redis, Mongo, Dynamo, Terraform)
  • Hands-on experience implementing protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenIDConnect, WebAuthN
  • Previous experience supporting identity, authentication, or account services at scale
  • Previous experience collaborating with upstream mobile teams and programmers

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).
