Opportunity Snapshot

Pixieset is hiring a Back End Software Developer to help build and evolve our growing platform, supporting over 1.6 million photographers and creative professionals worldwide. As a member of the Platform team, you'll work across the stack with a focus on backend systems - building the core services, APIs, and infrastructure that power our expanding product suite. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that are central to Pixieset’s continued growth. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering peers to ship high-impact features, improve scalability, and enhance the developer experience across teams. Your Impact

  • Design, develop, and implement product features across the full stack, with a focus on backend development using PHP (Laravel).
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code to support scalable backend systems and user-facing functionality
  • Deliver everything from user-facing improvements to backend optimizations and scalable system enhancements spanning multiple codebases
  • Help improve and maintain the Pixieset product architecture, APIs, databases, and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and work with team members to solve complex technical challenges
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Research and integrate new technologies to enhance performance, security, and the development process

Role Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Backend Developer or Platform Engineer building scalable backend services and infrastructure
  • Experience with PHP and preferably its frameworks (Laravel, Yii, or Symfony)
  • Experience with JavaScript and preferably ES6, Webpack
  • Experience with relational database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, and web technologies, including HTTP, RESTful services, Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS

The typical salary range for this position is CAD $96,900 - $132,300 annually. Salary offered will be based on skills, experience and market data.
