The Portfolio Analytics and Reporting team is dedicated to driving excellence in investment monitoring and performance analysis. The team is driven to assist investment teams in making informed decisions, whilst enhancing efficiency and quality of portfolio operations. Portfolio Analytics and Reporting provide support across all of Private Capital’s investment funds.
Purpose of the Role:The Associate, Portfolio Analytics and Reporting, will play a key role in conducting the ongoing monitoring and quarterly review of credit investment performance for the Nicola Private Debt Fund.
Core Responsibilities:- Monitoring the performance of existing credit investments
- Analyzing monthly/quarterly financial statements and property level reporting for existing credit investments
- Preparing quarterly reports to summarize borrower performance trends
- Conducting research on industry trends and developments that may impact existing investments
- Preparing credit scenario analysis as guided by the investment team
- Supporting the investment teams on closing and funding new investments
- Inputting data for new investments into portfolio management software
- Preparing presentations to internal stakeholders
- Help identify/manage operational risks and improve processes
- Assist with other ad-hoc projects within the Private Capital team
- Actively engage in ongoing learning and development to continuously improve skills and knowledge.

- Investment Acumen: Intermediate understanding of Private Debt Investments, and the deal execution process. Pays close attention to market trends and developments.
- Technical Proficiency: Competence in use of Excel, portfolio management software and data management techniques.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in analysis and reporting. Identifies errors and inconsistencies, correcting these whilst moving at a fast pace.
- Curiosity: Constantly curious, seeks learning opportunities, and asks questions that generate new insight and ideas. Acts with humility, admitting mistakes and speaking up when they do not know or lack conviction.
- Optimize operational effectiveness – Identify gaps in current data and processes, develop and prioritize backlogs and project plans for designing and delivering solutions leading to more efficient and effective processes. Consistently report on the value obtained through these enhancements.
- Institutional-grade Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting – Increase consistency, accuracy, and efficiency of reporting and portfolio monitoring by managing the implementation, delivery, and on-going enhancement of the firm’s portfolio management software. Once implemented, utilize software to deliver institutional-grade portfolio monitoring and reports.
- Stakeholder and workload management – Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. Achieve this through strong workload, priority management, and competing deliverables in alignment with pre-defined timelines and quality standards.
- Team Player – Consistently demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset and positive attitude to all and every task. Proactively contributes to the success of the broader team by taking on and executing work that benefits Private Capital and Nicola Wealth objectives even if outside of typical responsibilities.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Private Debt/Credit or Private Capital/Real Assets.
- Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, or finance.
- Financial Industry designation considered an asset (CFA, CAIA, CPA, or CA)
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer
This position comes with a base salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 plus a highly competitive performance bonus and participation in our Asset Management profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
