Purpose of the Role:

As the Associate Machine Designer, you will support Svante’s engineering teams in the design and development of commercial-scale carbon-capture machines, working across machine structure, sealing, and powertrain functions.

You will help translate engineering concepts into detailed designs by creating 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and supporting documentation. This is a 9-month temporary position with the potential to become permanent based on performance and is an excellent opportunity for a design and drafting professional looking to develop their expertise in mechanical design, CAD, PLM, and design for manufacturing within an innovative clean technology environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You have a diploma from an accredited technical college in drafting, CAD, or mechanical technology, or a degree from an accredited university in engineering, along with 5–8 years of experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • You have 2–3 years of hands-on experience with Creo Parametric and demonstrated ability to create accurate 3D CAD models, detailed design drawings, and supporting engineering documentation.
  • You have 2–3 years of experience working with a PDM/PLM system and a strong understanding of CAD data management and product data integrity.
  • You have good knowledge of mechanical and structural design, drafting practices, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and common manufacturing processes such as machining and welding.
  • You have strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams while demonstrating initiative and alignment with Svante’s values.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

  • You will consistently deliver accurate 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and supporting documentation within agreed project timelines and quality requirements.
  • You will collaborate effectively with machine structure, sealing, powertrain, and other functional teams to translate engineering concepts into detailed and manufacturable designs.
  • You will demonstrate proficiency in Creo and drafting best practices while producing design deliverables that meet applicable engineering and manufacturing requirements.
  • You will maintain accurate and reliable CAD and product data in accordance with Svante’s CAD data management and PLM processes.
  • You will continuously develop your expertise in 3D CAD modelling, drafting, design for assembly and manufacturability, and the technologies used in Svante’s commercial-scale carbon-capture machines.
