What We’re Looking For

Our Marine Insurance Division is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Advisor! Join us and make a positive impact on the team with your fresh ideas and unique perspective in this Full Time, Permanent role.

Our Burnaby location is our head office and is centrally located in the Willingdon Business Park. This location is easily accessible by the Gilmore sky train station with many shops, restaurants and other amenities nearby.

Position Summary

Provide solutions that meet client needs by administering a book of business with comprehensive knowledge of Marine Insurance products and policies. Work within a team environment contributing to personal and department sales objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer Marine Insurance (Pleasurecraft) book of business
    • Contact clients for renewal information
    • Update client information as changes occur
    • Collection of accounts receivable
    • Provide policy and coverage information to clients upon request or inquiry
  • Write new pleasurecraft policies and cross sell other products
  • Underwriting / rating of new business, renewals & endorsements 
  • Update client information as changes occur
  • Participate in external marketing of our personal marine products including representing, organizing and attending boat and trade shows.
  • Provide support and guidance to Personal Insurance Team (including branches)
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills, Characteristics & Qualifications

  • Level 2 General Insurance License
  • 2 years Personal Insurance experience
  • Marine experience preferred but willing to train
  • Boating knowledge & lifestyle an asset
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • EPIC experience an asset
  • Completion of industry-related designation (BCIT Insurance & Risk Management, CAIB, CIP, CRM, etc), or actively working on completion.

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
