Reporting to the Associate Director, Client Success and Finance Transformation, the Assistant Controller works within a team of accountants and bookkeepers to support a portfolio of social purpose clients on their financial wellness journeys.

The Assistant Controller, Client Success helps ensure the accuracy and completeness of clients’ financial information and reporting and supports regulatory compliance, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and audit coordination. The role also reviews the work of other team members and provides coaching, training and mentorship that strengthens the capacity of both the client service team and the organizations we serve.

Who You Are

You are a CPA with several years of progressively responsible accounting experience, whether gained in public practice, industry or the social purpose sector. You are looking for work that combines strong technical accounting with authentic client relationships and lasting organizational impact.

You enjoy solving puzzles, rolling up your sleeves and putting the pieces together in practice, not only in theory. You understand that getting into bookkeeping details is sometimes part of the work and can be essential to understanding what is happening in a client’s financial systems.

You care about client success and want your work to support organizations advancing important missions. You understand that financial transformation can be complex and are prepared to approach challenging situations with patience, sound judgment and persistence.

We recognize that strong candidates may have gained their experience through different career paths. You do not need to meet every item under “Nice to have” to apply.

Required

  • A Canadian CPA designation in good standing.
  • Several years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including experience with audit or assurance engagements in public practice.

  • Experience working successfully as part of a fully remote team.
  • Familiarity with a range of cloud-based accounting, reporting and workflow systems.

We know that many technical skills can be taught. We have built a learning library and an onboarding process to support your success. What matters to us is your desire to learn and grow, your openness to change and the perspective you bring to our team.

  • The next step is a 30-minute video interview with one or two members of our team. This discussion explores your experience, approach and alignment with our work and culture.
  • Candidates who continue will participate in a 60-minute video interview with two Associate Directors, Client Success and Finance Transformation. This is a further opportunity to explore mutual fit and learn about the day-to-day work.
