POSITION OVERVIEW
At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, you contribute directly to the success of Canadian businesses. In this role, you support the growth of small and medium-sized companies in the technology sector (software, SaaS, e-commerce, AI, video games, telecommunications). You develop business opportunities in financing and advisory by building strong client relationships. Your work combines business development, financial analysis, and credit decision-making.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
- Build and maintain relationships with business owners, clients, and prospects in the regional technology sector to understand their business models, challenges, and opportunities
- Identify client needs and recommend appropriate BDC financing and advisory solutions
- Execute a marketing and business development plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain a portfolio of technology clients
- Develop and manage a 90-day business development pipeline and identify new opportunities
- Analyze financial information and prepare, negotiate, and present high-quality loan proposals using sound credit judgment
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and expand your professional network within the technology and business community
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Must-have)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent)
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role involving sales targets and business development
- Experience performing financial analysis (e.g., reviewing financial statements, assessing credit risk)
- Knowledge of the local business community (e.g., Vancouver region)
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and identify business opportunities
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Nice-to-have)
- Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) or actively working toward one
- Experience in the technology sector (e.g., software, SaaS, e-commerce, AI, telecommunications, gaming)
- Existing network within local business associations or chambers of commerce
- Experience in lending, credit analysis, or commercial financing
