Discovery Community College (DCC) is seeking enthusiastic, tech-savvy, and student-focused professionals to join our Academic Services Coordinator team based Onsite in Nanaimo, BC. This role plays a critical part in helping students successfully begin their educational journey.

Position Summary

The  Academic Services Coordinator  serves as a key member of the student success team, supporting new and prospective students through orientation, digital literacy development, academic readiness activities, and employability skills training. This position combines elements of instruction, student services, and learner support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student orientations and onboarding sessions.
  • Deliver digital literacy workshops and technology training.
  • Administer and support Accuplacer testing and related assessments.
  • Facilitate employability and career readiness workshops.
  • Support students with navigating Microsoft 365 and online learning tools.
  • Encourage student engagement, participation, and successful program completion.
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Student Services, Education, and Campus teams.
  • Assist with special projects and student success initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Adult Education or a related field.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, training sessions, or classroom instruction.
  • Strong digital literacy and computer skills is a must.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications is a must
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse learners and support students from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Customer service, coaching, mentoring, or teaching experience is considered an asset.

Compensation
Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 CAD annual Work Schedule

This is a full-time position

Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule, including:

  • Days
  • Evenings
  • Weekends

Schedules will be planned in advance to support work-life balance while meeting operational needs
