The Associate Manager is responsible to develop and execute marketing plans for an assigned brand or group of brands and partners with Sales to identify and capitalize on key opportunity areas in new or existing channels. This position supports the achievement of annual business objectives for the assigned brands including volume, profit and share objectives.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Strong knowledge of the category to fulfill the role of internal expert / leader on assigned brand(s).
  • P&L accountability for targets on Net Sales, Operating Profit, Profit Margin and A&P spend for assigned brands.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of annual share growth targets
  • Responsible for measuring ongoing performance vs expectations and make recommendations on actions to address performance where necessary.
  • Contribute to the development and full alignment of the annual Integrated Growth Plan, outlining the strategic direction, prioritization and financial delivery against targets of the assigned brand(s)
  • Working with agency partners, lead the development and successful delivery of the Media & Shopper Marketing Plans for assigned brand(s) including full Media to Shelf activations against key consumption periods.
  • Responsible for the Commercialization of NPD and innovation for assigned brand(s) within the Canadian market
  • Contribute to Step 1 of the monthly Sales and Operating Plan process for the applicable group of brands to help measure performance vs expectations, understand & effectively communicate changes in forecasted performance and uncover associated actions to seize opportunities or address gaps that may exist. 
  • Participate in the development of a semi-annual Release to Sales business plan, linked to corporate objectives, brand strategies and customer opportunities.
  • Use knowledge of the Canadian market to effectively and efficiently adopt NA and Global initiatives to deliver against brand objectives and identify gaps where they may exist.
  • Provide in-depth information analysis to uncover insights & actions to drive brand performance and customer interface between SCJ and its retail partners including A.C. Nielsen consumption analysis (competitive reviews, analysis of new product launches, program evaluation, etc.) and business warehouse shipment analysis (customer performance, regional trends, weekly tracking).
  • Participate in the strategic cross-functional business team, working with other departments to ensure clarity and execution of brand priorities, uncover untapped opportunities and resolve emerging business issues. Partner with Sales to identify and capitalize on key opportunity areas in new or existing channels.
  • Maximize learnings across North America by building effective relationships with key stakeholders and leveraging Global and U.S information, learning and tools where applicable.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic FOCOs within assigned brands/products, including coordination with external agency partners, and internal cross-functional teams to deliver Media to Cart plans and sales objectives.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree essential requirement (Business or Marketing preferred)
  • Minimum 4 years related experience
  • Ability to go beyond reporting data to linking data with solid business conclusions, solutions or recommendations
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong financial management skills and understanding of the P&L Cross functional experience is an asset, especially Sales
