Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Managing Principal for our Canada Buildings & Places business line.  The Senior VP, Building & Places Regional Business Line Leader (RBLL) is responsible for the performance of the Buildings & Places business line overall with an emphasis on growth and profitability.

As a compelling business leader and selfless collaborator with both P&L and sales growth responsibility, the RBLL sets safety and ethical standards, leads by example, drives employee engagement and the professional development of the staff.  They works cooperatively with other regions and business lines around the globe to integrate delivery of all AECOM’s services.  

The RBLL provides industry leadership, develops and executes a growth strategy in coordination with AECOM Executive Leadership.  They oversee development of capture strategies, direct pursuits of profitable business and ensure safe, high quality, profitable project delivery.  They may also represent the company in industry, municipal, provincial, state, and federal group forums.    

They report in a matrix to the Regional and Global Business Line Executives and works in conjunction with Market Sector and Account Leaders. The RBLL is a member of the Canada Region and Global Business Line Management Teams and supports the overall performance of both.

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to Canada Region Buildings & Places team.

  • Advances the strategic direction of the Region and positions the business line for sustained and continued profitable growth consistent with the context of the strategic plan.

  • Provides leadership for the Region by communicating the strategy and objectives of the organization and Region to the Buildings & Places business line.

  • Accountable for the Buildings & Places business line’s P&L including revenue generation, project margin achievement, cash targets, G&A, project delivery, client satisfaction, staff utilization, technical talent and team resources (hiring, staff retention etc), safety, claims resolution and quality.

  • Participates in the development of Regional growth and business development strategy in collaboration with other Regional business line leaders and Client Account Managers.

  • Implements strategic plans and objectives of the organization as applicable to the Region.

  • Ensures the success and growth of the Region through collaboration with the Global Buildings & Places business line and other Regions and Business lines.

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgement.

  • Serves as an ambassador for AECOM.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or other related field.
  • Extensive years of related experience in the A/E/C Industry with a focus on one or more of the following services: architecture + interiors, building + system engineering, cost + project management and/or Urbanism and planning.
  • 6+ years of experience in business development, operations management, Profit and Loss, staff management and leadership experience.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including experience speaking to large groups of staff.
  • Consultative, service-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Business degree.
  • 20+ years of related experience. 
  • 10+ years in the geographic marketplace. 
  • Licensed architect in one or more provinces (OAQ, OAA, AAA, AIBC, NSAA, AANB).
  • Secret-level security clearance or eligibility with the Canadian government.
  • Extensive experience in driving growth, developing strategy, generating sales, and building high performance teams. 
  • Significant experience and client relationships in the practice areas associated with the Buildings & Places business line – including architecture + interior, building + system engineering, cost + project management and/or urbanism and planning. 
  • Bilingual (French and English).
