The Manager, Corporate Accounting oversees the accurate and timely reporting of various Nicola Wealth entities, as well as related audit, tax and cash flow analysis. Reporting to the Controller, this role will also support the accounting and administration of employee equity programs and shareholder loans. The Manager, Corporate Accounting leads a team responsible for preparing financial information, provides professional and insightful support and recommendations to the Controller and seeks out opportunities to improve systems and processes.
This is a hybrid role based in our Vancouver office.
Core Responsibilities:- Oversee all month-end close activities and related account reconciliations for select Nicola Wealth entities.
- Review and approve journal entries related to bank transactions, accruals, mark-to-market, allocations, and other adjustments.
- Review and approve Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable ensuring appropriate coding
- Manage shareholder loan schedules including recording interest, dividend, and repayments transactions.
- Assist with equity programs such as employee share purchases and share buybacks.
- Review and submit monthly GST returns.
- Create a robust month end reconciliation process for newly established entities
- Liaise with cross functional teams and external stakeholders to support business operations and financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support the year end reviews and audits.
- Create process documentation and drive improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide accounting guidance on ASPE versus IFRS ensuring compliance and proper treatment.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 2-3 accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Support ad hoc management analysis, projects and additional accounting support as needed.
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience.
- CPA designation, with audit experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Workday Finance, Concur would be an asset.
- Experience with intercompany transactions and eliminations would be an asset.
- Experience in real estate, insurance, or financial services industries would be an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in managing a financial reporting team.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
This position comes with a base salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
