Job Responsibilities:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:• Visible on plant floor on all shifts in all departments• Monitors and advises on plant safety as to working conditions and practices with respect to safe operations and the control of designated substances• Observes standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health and safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook• Assists the HSE Manager with Surveys and investigations in the plant to provide advice feedback on efficiency of current HSE Programs, legal compliance and Policies and makes recommendations on improving HS&E conditions in the workplace through implementing changes to existing programs or the requirement of new programs including training.• Acts as resource person in maintaining a safe and health work environment• Assists the HSE Manager with coordination and conducting site specific training programs where necessary including Safety Orientations, WHMIS education, toolbox training and all legal and compliance training and ensure effectiveness of training.• Monitors, sources and coordinates mandatory and developmental safety training with HSE Manager and HR.• Coordinates and administers the scheduling and execution of occupational hygiene test at recommended schedules. to ensure compliance.• Coordinate and administer annual Fire Drills and Hearing Tests with appropriate departments• Assist the HSE Manager with the Heat Stress Program including but not limited to making available cooling aids for employees and assist with temperature readings.• Self-Development - keeping yourself abreast with latest laws and regulations through continuous education and courses required for position as required by P&F and MAGNA.• Assist and support any audits, internal and external, and inspections in advance including but not limited to uploading documentation, gathering documents and evidence and coordinating efforts with HSE Manager regularly.• Entering and gathering data for KPI reports• Supports Accident investigations and gathering of information as required and needed. Provides feedback to HSE Manager for potential actions.• Maintains accurate and on time analysis of monthly accident and incident statistics i.e. frequency, severity Lost Time, scrap rates, environmental data and provides on time reports to HSE Manager and posts on communication boards.• Maintains and updates all Physical Demands analysis and hazard assessments.• Participates in monthly joint health and safety committee meetings. Maintains minutes of meetings and postings on communication boards.• Assist HSE Manager with corporate Health and Safety department for communications and audits and supports proactively with HSE Manager action plan in response to annual safety audits• Ensure Health & Safety communication board is updated• Monitors the Safety Data Sheets and ensures they are updated• Schedules the safety shoe truck every two months.• Ensures PPE is available to all employees and visitors. Monitors stock.
Environmental: Administers and Coordinates noise measurements and audits and reports and reviews results with HSE Manager• Administers and Coordinates the sampling of waste streams such as sanitary/storm sewers and compressed air blow down liquid waste and reviews results with HSE Manager• Administers and Coordinates testing of environmental hazards and reviews results with HSE Manager• Monitors and assists with customer demands for control of restricted materials and reviews results with HSE Manager• Performs any and all other assignments from time to time as management so directs
